For gifting bitcoin this year, I'm using River links. They give you a QR code to send, or you can print out a physical piece of paper to put in a card.

Hey Chris, Regarding the 4 year cycle, (to me) it would be great to have a couple of more years to stack cheaper sats. Bitcoin pumping is fun but it also means fewer sats for the stackers. Thank you for the value

Boosting from Fountain via my AlbyHub. Love love love it, this was the number one issue I had with Fountain. Expect more boosts from me soon!

I also have a serious question for you. I recently listened to an interview with the Samurai wallet dev who has been sentenced to 5 years prison for writing open source software. In the interview he talked about how his constitutional rights were not respected and how hostile the judge was. They had no evidence of an actual crime being committed, so the charges are for “conspiracy” to commit crimes. Basically, as th…

Yes, my nephew did complete his sats quest. I made it easy for him by loading up a Lightning wallet and telling him about a bar where he lives which accepts sats. Told him he has to take some friends and shout them a drink with the Sats. And offered some additional cold storage sats as a “reward” once the quest was completed. Incentives at work :)

4 year cycle is no longer relevant and I think this is a positive for Bitcoin. The excessive selling by the whales is starting to make me think there is something incoming that we don't know about- regulatory or otherwise- maybe regarding custody or something

Boosting from Fountain with my Alby hub connected via Nostur connect! Re tax implications for spends on the CoinJar Mastercard setup in Australia, they report to the tax office directly or you can easily download transaction reports for your accountant. Also got my node setup dialled in now with clearnet and Tor working smooth and BTC Explorer to monitor it. I’ll get my act together and put the compose file on GitHu…

sats for holidays: back in the paper wallet days i printed some out for nieces and nephews as bitcoin stocking stuffers. since then i've swept them to hardware cold wallets, all the while sliding more sats in every year. each year i help their parents get a little closer to legit self-custody without my involvement. started with me as the custodian.. end goal being a self sovereign extended family (with a nice start…

vinney here (the "v" in "v cavallo" 😆) i have a fully self-hosted lightning address at my own domain - [email protected] - that i achieve with lnbits on a public vps and a tunnel to an umbrel node on my LAN. it is a pain in the ass but it **does** work and makes me happy. the externally-reachable vps is the key. dm me on nostr if you want more details!

Thanks for another great show.

Economics is a political issue. Arguably THE MAIN political issue. Treating it as a technical problem separated from politics is an ideological strategy deployed with particular strength since the 1980s. You can find a great academic account of this fact in "Thinking like an economist" by Elizabeth Popp Berman. Granted, it's bigger than a partisan issue, especially when the only two alternatives are "capitalism is m…

It’s not one or the other. Bitcoin halving or the 4 year cycle will impact supply and therefore will impact price. Liquidity is the dominant driver of price right now in my opinion. If people or businesses don’t have cash to invest, then prices will remain low. Thanks for the value.

The four year cycle is solidly showing its perfectly in fast. Why do u keep insisting otherwise? Didn’t hear a single argument besides “cause the fed cut rates”. The cycle is in tact

I'll see your sats mr fisher, welcome back :)

Fresh TWiB: I try to make the case: why the Fed had to cut rates, and why it’s going to kill the four year cycle for Bitcoin. Plus my thoughts on what I’m calling baby-QE.
