the ffpmeg thing reminded me of what I did about a year ago. I had a command line tool using ffmpeg to turn a YouTube or twitch livestream into a live icecast mp3 stream. Wanted to build an easier tool to stream in rss myself but then decided that there weren’t any good rss live listening apps or websites yet. Started bouncepad.live which is bad and semi-abandoned now. So I’m left with kinda nothing. Does anyone have any motivation tips???

I get putting hls in the enclosure for ads purposes but I expect that to lead to many self hosted feeds trying this out, without having a ssl certificate. So on all the https webapps they now won’t be able to play an episode. Insecure media requests are allowed in browsers but not insecure http requests.

With that endpoint of new shows maybe we could do a Birdwatch type thing? That is what later turned into community notes on X. Where it has people write and rate notes. And the notes only show up if people that usually disagree, agree that this post needs a note. That could come from any user reports from apps too I guess. But then we would need a centralised way of tracking the reports. To at would work for removing shows automatically in a actually reliable way though. Just as an idea.

I’m just going to be quiet on inception point claiming podnews weekly review stats mean people want to hear about inception point ai. I would say extremely mean things

Loved listening to you both reflect on your predictions, highlights and lowlights for 2025. I concur with most your frustrations (especially the AI slop). I do wonder if there’s an opportunity to make better use of the location and live tags with some hyper local “radio chat shows”, allowing other locals to interact through the comments as well. It would need to be really simple for the muggles to use, maybe with the SMS method you’ve used before, but a really nice chance to push apps like Truefans and Fountain.
