Bitcoiner HAC invites us to rethink Bitcoin hardware from scratch. What does a signing device actually do and can you do it yourself? He makes the case for why DIY Bitcoin with generic hardware is better than specialized Bitcoin hardware. Maybe double the voting weight for people with skin in the game (kids?). 😁 No way non-French Europeans with similar living standards would move to Quebec of all places and have to learn French.

Agree the mic drop moment was npubs emulated as IPv6 addresses through a custom local DNS service + network adapter. Allows third party apps to just work. FIPS might have some actual legs for decentralizing the internet.

Re:other nodes and making news, you're clearly not watching Eric Voskuil on Twitter. Libbitcoin 4 just did IBD in 14 minutes on a consumer connection (with assumevalid height of 950k) and 55 min for full validation. Older than Knots, and older than Core being called, well, Core. They slept for a good few years but are waking up with a vengeance.

A Bitcoin that can be governed by politicians passing laws, influencing public company miners, is not interesting to me. Spammers will always find ways around any filters we build. You can send a message by disallowing some formats, but it's probably not going to have a big impact. Excitement around using spam is low. Block space is cheap, so it still makes it in. There's a max size limit on blocks regardless of how much spam they contain. FUD about hard drive space is fake news.

Two worlds colliding (Bitcoin and defense of a nation). 2 lads hitting it off. Liked the slight focus on leadership failure. Apart from that I think the Triggernometry episode with Tommy had better flow.

This is sweet, thanks for covering this. Been getting excited listening to @npub1v25jqj332… talk about Stratum v2 for a while now. Nice to see it in action.

The cloak and dagger shit with Switck is heating up. People were already looking for a reason for this to be inside. Still not totally convinced but it looks sketchy as fuck. Never been more glad I had fun playing dice games with my bitcoin.

One of the best WBD's yet. Dines' coverage of the Eurodollar mechanics here and the shift that happened with LIBOR to SOFR is something far too few people are talking about (Luongo notwithstanding).

Your analogy is odd given that the twentyfirst amendment struck the 18th amendment from the constitution... The issue with 110 is that it was ineffective and targeting an issue that barely qualifies as one. 4 MB is 4 MB.

The point of airgapping isn't that QR'sbor SD cards are inherently more secure than USB or Bluetooth. It's that the amount of data is far more limited and easier to audit with lower tech methods. If you ask me floppy disks would be even better, as SD cards have firmware that could be an attack vector. But floppies are prohibitively hard to implement in 2026.

'Anything is safer than a coldcard' is not entirely accurate, especially if you're one of the fence cases. Malware hot wallets are having a field day. Saw one user lost 6.07 BTC on mobile 'wasabi' wallet which of course was fake.

Generating entropy with dice offline is actually preferable IMO if done correctly.

A million times yes. Thank you for addressing this in the right way. You're one of the only podcasts that hasn't responded to Coinkite with yet more bad options. Very much excited that Learning Bitcoin From The Command Line is getting a new edition too -- long overdue.
