With selfhosting your own music on a website and running a node for the payments it's hard for use to give up that control to another 3rd party. I'm still happy to test stuff but what @npub14c7ksq2wl… are doing is the end goal imo and I just don't want us to get back into being trapped by Big Music again.

Changing your lnaddress in a RSS feed is just as hard/easy as changing your keysend address is now. Using Primal and want to switch to Strike? Still need to change it in the feed. No difference and no one is going to selfhost a lnaddress look up so they can change it on the backend and only time.

Shit posting aside I see what Oscar is trying to do and see the vision but I'm all here for the other devs so we just need some time for everyone to hash this all out. The current system works and is solid if you've been playing along this whole but it is limited. It's also not going to be an easy change however we do it.

If lnaddress is so easy to add where's the other podcasting apps being built on lightning then? The spec supports lnaddress now. Podcast app devs aren't lightning experts so we need some help from the Bitcoin community as well. None of this is a new problem and it's an open spec after all...

@npub1yvscx9vrm… and @npub19ha7tju4t… have been reading live Boost on BowlAfterBowl for years but Bitcoiners either didn’t know how or didn’t care how to figure it out. A bunch of podcasters were able to figure it out so it can’t be that hard. 🤷‍♂️

There are several other podcasting 2.0 apps that support lightning but Fountain was the only one Bitcoiners cared about because they have a PR budget and do this full time so they can do the podcast and conference circuit. Podverse, Castamatic, Curiocaster, LNBeats, PodcastGuru all support Alby.

Nostr is either going to strengthen PC 2.0 or divide it. Fountain adding Nostr has left a lot of people that have been using it for years but don’t want to sign up for Nostr feeling left behind.

Podcasting 2.0 started when Apple deplatformed Alex Jones. Most podcast apps use the Apple index so when Apple banned him he was also banned from most apps.

Soldering is a cool and fun skill to have. I had to take a microscope soldering class for work before, that time it wasn’t fun. 🤣

I built a DIY solder radio kit in trade school and the instructors told us not to go through the tuning steps because the parts come pretuned and the kit wants you to mess them up so you can learn how to adjust them. If it ain’t broken don’t break it and try to fix it.

As someone who came into podcasting 2.0 as a podcast listener/app user I've always just been interested in seeing what works the best or who's doing cool stuff so that other people can just kind of find the best stuff out there and go from there so I just kind of filter stuff for Others and that's about it

Maybe a better comparison is taking your car to the dealership versus you know having your buddy work on it or even working on it yourself. Ones more expensive more convenient and probably safer legally or whatever and having your body when you're hopefully you trust one trust me enough to let work on your car and maybe he'll do some of the work for free. Maybe you'll have to pitch in and do some of it or if you're at work if you're working on your car yourself maybe you're watching some dude to put up a YouTube video on how to do something and you spend Six hours doing what should've taken 30 minutes but you'll learned a lot

I don't even know where the line for self hosting Falls cause it's like obviously you're renting someone's web server and you upload you know your MP3, your XML, your art and stuff where you put it in the index and then it's free for anyone to do whatever they want with and Hosting companies. Do they count? I don't know. They basically just do it for you. They do the same thing we're doing, but you have to stick to their rules because I mean they are running the business and most of the ones in 2.0 see the same vision so like you don't have to worry about getting deplatformed or censored or anything, but I don't know. Can you go in and can you add experimental tags into your RSS feed, probably not.

Big tech doesn't want you to know this, but you can just boost your thoughts into your own podcast. On the self hosting topic it all started from there because that's what the podcasts that really cared about podcasting 2.0 we're doing because they wanted ultimate control and freedom and that's just the same thing we want I mean, I don't think people don't know how easy it is or how much control or even how cheap it is. They can have control over their stuff but I mean that's really all it all it comes down to. You know, you can do it all yourself and I'm kind of jaded with different people coming and going and not really sticking around or seeing our vision so it might come off as rude or gatekeeping or offputting for some but I mean we're doing this all value for value so it's just kind of come in it's open. It's free just contribute and if people are vibing with you then they vibe with you and I've seen it happen over and over and the same people keep showing up and we know who they are so I don't know. I don't really see any problem.

We need splits on Nostr like @npub1a6c3jcdj2… was talking about. The lack of splits on Nostr is what’s keeping a lot of us PC 2.0 from using it more.

One thing missing from a lot of these V4V concerts/panels is that they are hardly ever streamed or recorded for later viewing. The you had to be there mentally makes it hard to build on previous works. You can reference things but are unable to show people it at a later day.

I've always recommended people run AlbyHub on a stand alone node because you get the best of both worlds. This is also why I haven't dived into how channels work with AlbyHub outside of just buying a LSP channel because I'd rather have my channels tied to my actual node.

episodes.fm is a great site and putting it on a QR code is a great idea. Everyone in PC 2.0 loves it so I think you don’t have to worry about it going away anytime soon if you put it on a QR code.

Cross app comments have been something talked about in PC 2.0 forever but @npub1v5ufyh4lk… is the first to do it with Nostr. We all have mad respect for the Fountain guys. Frankiepaint and myself are actually each doing Fountain Radio Takeovers to promote this show. It's about using whatever app works best for you. I'm using Fountain right now so this gets posted to Nostr just like I use Curiocaster, LNBeats, Podverse, Castamatic and PodcastGuru to do other things.

I made the Fountain Boost comment awhile back because not all the Boosts are coming from Fountain and by "not all" I mean mine. 😁

Love #AlbyGo and it's notifications. Also it's the fastest way to pay a lighting invoice. Also a great way so see if your #AlbyHub is only b/c it won't connect if your AlbyHub is offline.

It's all so broken with podcasting and wallets but this also involves music, audiobooks and anything else PC 2.0 wants to put on a RSS feed. Thanks for being this to more ears Chris and Alby have been nothing but great to us DIYers this while time.

The issue with other apps just switching to lnurl is that it requires more sever load and apps like Castamatic run on device so what do they do? Also the metadata like was mentioned. Fountain isn't the only game in town and there are other apps that have been doing this V4V lightning thing before them that can't be left behind. They all use Alby and it's been great but now with the AlbyHub switch we need an alternative for new users that is dead simple. Something like coinos but it doesn't do keysend so here we are.

The payment info is in the RSS feed so you decide where the sats go with PC 2.0. You could have 100% go to @npub1ah55ex8qs… and still divided it up on your end or just put the splits right in the feed and just add whatever % you guys want. PC 2.0 and RSS is how I'm listening to this episode and sending this Boostagram. Fountain has Nostr but it's just social stuff and is still heavy on the PC 2.0 stuff under the hood. Don't write it off so fast is my point. There is talks of adding L402 as a paywall/subscription option if you didn't want to give stuff away for free. It's actually the same stuff Fountain is using for subscriptions and Preimun content.
