Don’t listen to a ton of secular music these days. But when I did there were some UK classics for sure. If you want to bring Jon over to your culture I’d recommend Skinnyman Council estate of mind, Klashnekoff sagas of or Plan B ill manors. Or even Hak baker; it’s an easier transition for American ears.

If it doesn’t have in app unilateral exit, it’s custodial, period. This is not negotiable. If something is not implemented then it simply doesn’t exist for the average user. 99.99999% of Spark users don’t even know a CLI app exists let alone how to use it. Without local caching and unilateral exit actually implemented in the app and having hard dependency on operator cooperation to exit then it’s custodial. Listen I actually like Spark and think it makes reasonable tradeoffs in a world without covenants, but as it stands it’s a custodial product. Happy to revise this once we see an actual implementation of unilateral exit and more operators and LSPs, but it’s just the honest reality today.

Excellent episode I appreciate the kind words, would love to get in touch on Nostr sometime schedules permitting. I feel like the levels of shade between a pool trying to grab some extra pleb hash and a hosting company holding thousands of dollars of equipment hostage and dormant are very pronounced. Wonderful conversation and a long time coming! I’ve been taking the pole shift seriously though I know we may not survive it.
