Why would the Trump admin want countries like China to keep holding the Treasuries? In this discussion on 'What Bitcoin Did', there was discussion of Trump convincing many countries to keeping holding Treasuries But China's exports to the US are precisely how China ended up holding so many Treasuries. So I don't think Trump can fix the trade balance without encouraging China to (gradually) dump the Treasuries For the US to sell to any country, the buying countries needs to spend their dollars, i.e. sell/spend their Treasuries
