You butchered the Monty Hall problem. The setup is 3 doors. 2 goats 1 prize. You select a door. Before opening your door the host reveals a door from the remaining two that contains a goat and asks you if you want to switch your selection to the other unopened door. The hosts action is not random, they always show a goat and never reveal the prize. If you write out the sample space, you will see that switching your choice increases your probability of selecting the prize from an initial value of 1/3 to 2/3. Imagine instead if the host offered you to open both of the other doors or stay with opening a single door. Since the host's actions are deterministic, that is essentially the same thing.

5 min in and pausing to boost. You can show using number theory that continued fraction expansions offer the best rational approximations of irrational numbers in terms of increasing numerators and denominators. The first few fractions in the continued fraction expansion of pi are: 3, 22/7, 333/106, 355/113, 103993/33102, 104348/33215, ... To me 355/113 is the most interesting fraction in this list. Using numbers less than 1000 you get an approximation that is accurate to the order of 10^-7. Also it is 11 33 55 split in two, so easy to remember.

Need to set a reminder to try and catch one of these Live. Is the 9am Eastern the normal time?

Somehow, I don't think Bitcoin fixes this.

Joel is the Ben Gunn I can understand. So many well spoken points were made. The anarchists will not organize, it's a matter of principle.

Fundamentals, your Financial Engineering co-workers would never refer to themselves as engineers because they would have considered it an insult. They were all Doctorates in Physics who looked down on engineers in College, and probably still do today.
