I'd love to hear more about Olympia Mike's CheomeOS style NixOS project. How can I learn more about this and borrow from his work? By the way I loved the sound bites from Wes's Framework setup with his mom. So authentic man!

A little late to send this boost in, but i needed to shout out this content. Building a development environment has always been a pain for me. I’ve used pip, poetry, nix-shells etc. Just as i was running into issues with my latest environment, you guys drop the episode about devenv!! This has solved the issue I was running into, thank you guys. Also, direnv is so convinient, i can’t imagine using anything else going forward. Thanks for the technical content as always. The new kexec episode was facinating.

Here’s a boost in support of transcripts!! The amount of times I’ve tried and failed to find references to hardware or software mentioned on the show, is unfortunately, too high. Speaking of such. Chris, what’s the name of that wled controller you’ve mentioned a few times now? Wes, since you’ve mentioned Qobuz, i’d like to vouch for the quality of their service. I’ve personally found superior availability and quality on Qobuz compared to Tidal. I’ll also mention my favourite tool for stakin flacs, Streamrip. Its a dead simple cli tool. Gold standard. BTW, thanks for all the content from 2024!

I'm not sure what all podcast players support flipping between audio and video on the fly. But I'm enjoying catching portions of the stream on video in Fountain when I can tell you're doing a demo. This week I switched to video to watch the picks and it was super handy. Here's a big thank you to Drew for including a high quality video cut as part of the production. Great work guys!

Hey guys! Just wanted to say thank you for all the variety in the show including current tech news and AI. I always appreciate a show that entertains me and keeps me up to date. Not enough time in the day to stay current on my own. This show continues to dive deep on interesting and helpful topics. Keep up the good work!

Hey guys! I'm enjoying hearing the compliance conversation with Determinate Systems in episode 657. Have you heard of anyone running NixOS in a CMMC or ITAR environment? I'm not sure if it's even possible to meet FIPS requirements on NixOS and would love any input.

Re: PDF signing on Linux Libre Office Draw has a great PDF editor built in. Just open your PDF in Libre Draw and you can insert a PNG image of your signature in a few seconds. Export as PDF and you're done!

Don't take the low signal about the Kent interview as low interest. Great episode and so cool Kent joined. He is a trooper and I'm so glad to hear dkms is making a viable approach for the current status. In time I have no doubt the kernel team will be asking Kent to bring it back in. We're thankful all of Kents efforts and good will. (Catching up from 645 - keep it up team! 👊🎉)

I would be up for some OpenShift virtualization coverage. I had heard it was a much heavier lift compared to other platforms, from a technical skill set standpoint + plus needing like 7 nodes to get started in a recommended setup. I wonder what might be sustainable in a 1 or 2 node setup? I love options. Keep the Red Hat coverage coming!

YEET!!! Shayne describing this project has me salivating. Really looking forward to a public release! I’ve recently implemented a few tailscale-sidecars myself. I’d like to further expand my network with a sidecar per service, but the pain of changing all my compose files and ensuring functionality is a hurdle too high at the moment. Also, thanks for all the great content from 2024. You guys are seriously so influencial. I look at my tech stack nowadays and I see your fingerprints all over it… Tailscale, nixos, ZFS, Bambu p1p. All that’s left is for me to set up home-assistant! Thanks again!!

Hi Alex and Chris! Happy New Year to you and the crew! I have a Docker on ZFS question for you: - On recent builds do you run the Overlay2 driver or the ZFS driver? - Or do you run a different file system for containers? Thanks for the great show and all your hard work!
