LOVE & HARD MONEY — Episode 18: I Do What I Want - Why freedom of money matters more than freedom of speech The Episode in One Line A man in Saskatchewan kept every word of his free speech and lost everything that mattered. The order of our rights is backwards — and this episode is the argument for why. What This Episode Is About Brian makes the case that freedom of money is more fundamental than freedom of speech — not equal to it, more important than it. Working from f...

Thanks for continuing to bring us consistent, balanced coverage on Bitcoin news. Still my fave show. My AI friend agrees that not only is your show “X” but it is “Y” lol. Even if the Core code change ends up being a bit of a nothing burger, I think a lot of users have been swayed to run Knots by the elitist heavy handedness the Core devs came across with. Shutting down discourse etc. That and Peter Todd’s supersized ego and smug face. Anyway here’s some sats. Thank you for the great content.

Fantastic episode @npub1clk6vc9xh… ! Good stuff. I think it behooves us all to get the rails in place BEFORE we need them. To be able to transact value and have seamless private conversion capability between BTC and whatever goods or currencies we need in a pinch, at any moment, on short notice.

Hey Dave good episode. Here’s a zap for this and some past episodes that I’ve been listening to while driving. Hey on the El Salvador thing, have you heard any comment from Max and Stacey? I’m wondering what their take is on what is effectively indefinite leadership. I’ve also been thinking based on Bukele seeming to be a solid leader, if maybe this is the only route he could see to stop the country falling back to the hell it was only 5 years ago under new leadership.

Very thoughtful presentation of “normalcy as governance”. It’s an important topic. Having attended both the Ottawa convoy and the blockade of the highway in Coutts, I’ve seen what financial repression can do to families overnight.

Knowing the Australian government, they’re going to use the ruse of tax CGT refunds to create a nice handy registry of all Australian BTC owners, ready for when they implement an unrealized capital gains tax after the next pump. Don’t fall for it Aussie holders!

Wow, what an interesting and immaculately crafted episode. Your questions and the dialogue that arose as a result of them really crystallized my understanding of reputation and web of trust concepts. Pure Bitcoin. I’d say pure gold but that metaphor is so 2008. This content is fantastic @npub1clk6vc9xh…

Good show. It’s notable that neither the Square Bitcoin story nor the BRINGIN story about the Estonian tradfi integration project make any mention of the need for governments to loosen up on tax reporting rules and implementation of deminimus rules regarding spending Bitcoin. Seems like a good way to mass KYC people that have Bitcoin to spend. I dunno….

Damn what a banger episode Dave. You really encapsulated what so many people are feeling this week. The world feels like it’s on warp speed. Bracing myself for some 1960’s style civil disobedience. We are no longer represented in Congress and Parliaments in a way that it can be avoided. Buckle up.

Great episode, despite the somber mood that has settled across the land. It’s hard not to be affected by it. Thanks for bringing us stories that the legacy media is intentionally suppressing, and for calling out their gross embellishments and glaring omissions. Have a great Friday

Hey Chris, great episode. I think your rebuttal of JL’s criticisms of Bitcoin was right on point. Another thing to consider is that, even for someone born in 1971, it was still 1989 before that person left high school, 1992-1994 before they exited post-secondary, and perhaps another ten years after that before their income achieved a level that started generating any positive flow. Especially if student debt was part of the equation. By 2004 we were already only 4 years short of the GFC. The last group of people that made it ten years into their careers before the Nixon shock were born in 1937. Makes your head spin.

Awesome episode. The points discussed don’t just defend Bitcoin, but put on their heads so many of the ideas and definitions that have become norms in the fight against fiat. Hyperbitcoinization is really already here in many ways. And so is hyperinflation.

Great thesis. Highly likely. Banks and fund managers” and banks’ financial engineer’s incentives make it nearly certain. And the powers that be won’t blame the speculators. They will blame Bitcoin, providing justification for a 1602.

Great episiode @npub15879mltll… . A sobering and informative look at the realities of exercising 2A rights and what ensues after using deadly force. Anyone who carries or has firearms for home defence owes it to themselves and those who depend on them to give this a listen!

A lot of people weighing in on the core vs knots debate are totally missing the point when it comes to the impact of the potential inclusion of CSAM to the Bitcoin blockchain. It’s not the potential inclusion of this data and imagery to the blockchain that is the threat. It’s what Bitcoin’s enemies DO with the knowledge of the potential inclusion of such material to the blockchain that is the threat. You know, the same people that have claimed that Bitcoin will boil the oceans and that it uses the same amount of electricity as a small country with every transaction? Absolute wizards. Unnecessarily altering the most important innovation in Human history since the harnessing of electricity. #runknots

I saw everything I needed to see about Canadian law enforcement’s willingness to do the bidding of our enemy in Ottawa. Hey have you guys read the heavily redacted report from the RCMP that discusses their anticipation of civil unrest? I’ve seen a handful of new hires locally. All still wet behind the ears. Being indoctrinated and armed before they even know who they are and who they serve. We need to focus on the youth and steer them away from these careers. There’s only one rule. Don’t talk to police. Not even a word. Present ID if requested or if detained. If not detained ask if you’re free to go. Don’t accept any offers to exchange security interests with them. I have one question for police officers. How long on average does someone serve before they realize their job isn’t about justice and public protection, but about revenue collection, janitorial duty after an incident, and enforcing the laws of a corrupt government. By the time most come to that realization, they are already committed to a line of work and have a mortgage and a family to feed. Trapped.
