Imho we have let the crypto skeptics get inside our heads. I think as a community we should lean into the fact that boost are powered by bitcoin. As a small business, I’m grateful to have support in a hard asset. It’s helped me fight inflation and keep my head above water. Bitcoin is an intelligence test, and I don’t need everyone in the world listening. I want a great audience, not the biggest audience possible. These are things we should lean into as a podcasting community trying to offer an alternative to mainstream crap. Go Podcasting!

Just wanted to say I really appreciate the work you guys do behind the scenes for the us Podcasters out here! Also +1 to the idea of putting an on-chain Address in the funding tag. I’ve definitely heard from a few listeners that would support via onchain, because that’s where they already have their stats.

In the spirit of listener participation, I’ve decided to take a drink with you at each mention of nix. It only seems fair as a show of support. Also a +1 for Fountain with Nostr and +1 for listening at 1.5x ! Cheers guys !

Thanks for the pointer to Coder Radio, I’ve added that one to my fountain stream and will boost there with details about my referral code exchange. Love what you guys are doing and love the V4V model!

Post code (ok ‘zip code’) boosts are smaller down here 😆’m really looking forward to the meet up near me 🇦🇺 Maybe more cost effective for me to come to one of your next west coast US or Canada ones 🤔

Happy to help test / transition things at Jupiter Broadcasting as app’s transition off the Alby API. After listening today, my biggest concern would be losing the info in the TLV record. And how to handle the transition in our value tags.

To answer Chris’s question on our MDF proposal — same URL, agent sends Accept: text/markdown, gets clean markdown back. No scraping, no HTML parsing. Access policy is expressed through price — free content serves immediately, premium content triggers a Lightning invoice via L402. One sat to a hundred dollars, same mechanism. Reference server is a self-hostable Docker image. Price also gives content owners a natural lever for agent load — charge a sat instead of getting hammered for free. And serving clean markdown instead of HTML soup slashes the token count dramatically, which matters whether you’re Anthropic or running Ollama on your homelab.

I happened to see this episode come up in Fountain as ‘live’ so I started listening. I really tried guys but I just couldn’t do it. After listening to you all at 1.5x for the last few months, the live ‘real time’ experience sounded like you were all heavily sedated and not your usual selves 😂 So today I’ll listen and enjoy the 1.5x caffeine edition I’m used to. Keep up the great work 🙏🏼

Hi guys, just catching up on shows I’ve missed while I’ve been busy. Got me wondering- how do you go with accounting for your ‘after the event’ earnings from streaming and boosts? I’m always interested to hear your summaries of how much you’re generating as I love the V4V model. Presumably what you mention each show is what you see live but do you keep track of what comes in later and add that to the subsequent live totals or is it just too hard to deal with?

I’m loving the JB collection of shows, great work guys! Your comments around small language models and domain expertise got me thinking. I’ve been mulling over an idea recently about a way to capture all the things I’ve learned over the years. Perhaps a personal LM seeded with experiences and linked to sat streaming to monetise ?🤔 Essentially take the traditional ‘learn skills and get paid to use them’ model and do it in the V4V way without the middleman…

So, my first computer was a Z80 processor based kit that I hand soldered. It had 2KB of RAM, 6 x 7 segment LED displays and a hex input keypad for programming. Its usability was err ‘limited’ - but the educational aspect was amazing.

On the challenge of typo squatting and software repo’s - it feels like this is something we could solve or at least improve with key pairs or passkeys or something? First time you use a repo, get prompted to establish a co-signing relationship. Each time you come back a handshake takes place. If everything matches you silently get the code you’re requesting. No match triggers an error flow with warnings and no download etc 🤔

Goodbye “digital gold,” hello “physical bitcoin!” I can’t believe I’m first hearing that term from mainstream media. I’ve recently acquired a Bitaxe solo miner and have been looking at options of how I want to set it up. In doing so, I came across Bitcoin Knots. Simultaneously, I’ve been seeing some infighting regarding Bitcoin Core, which I currently run. Maybe it’s too big of a topic during the boost segment, but can you shed some light on the issues/possible solutions? Lastly, the show is always on point. Fellow bitcoiners, boost in those sats!

Last week Fountain didn't get my boost through to you so I am doubling up this week and sending two. This is not the first time I have had to try a boost a second time to get it through Fountain. This week you asked what we think about buying bitcoin-adjacent stocks. Personally, I think one of bitcoin's strengths is that it doesn't have a CEO. Does bitcoin become better when you add a CEO to it? As much as I like Mallers and Saylor, the answer for me is an obvious NOPEY McNOPERSON. Mallers' promise to increase bitcoin per share is interesting, but in the end, I just don't see why I would buy one of these stocks when I can hold the asset myself.

Just a little Boosty McBoosterson to say that while I agree that we don’t need to worry about mining pools attacking the network, for the obvious reason that they have no incentive to destroy the value in the system, there are still entities out there who might just want to do exactly that. The same governments who can print money to buy mining hardware just may decide that it’s a good investment to destroy fiat’s only real competition. I don’t necessarily think this will happen, but, it’s a possibility.

A fresh episode with some spicy takes. I’ll be curious to see if some of you agree!
