No actual discussion about the BIP technicals. Projection, fear-mongering, mind reading. Odell kind of did the same thing with Swan Bitcoin a couple years ago when he didn't have info that they hadn't announced and basically accused them of being bad actors and had to walk it back. If you disagree with the goal and assume bad motivations then of course it's going to seem like an attack. BIP-110 supporters can (and probably do) say that Core's actions + some statements by various devs + various VC connections = attack on Bitcoin. Everyone has their idea of what they want Bitcoin to be and everyone has something at stake. As a small miner who is all-in on Bitcoin for years now, and has been following this issue since early 2025, I support the vision of BIP110. Doesnt mean it's perfect, but I believe it's better than the direction we'd be heading without it.

the core dev, lorinc, finding a critical consensus bug from sloppy coding in 110 was hilarious.

If it doesn’t have in app unilateral exit, it’s custodial, period. This is not negotiable. If something is not implemented then it simply doesn’t exist for the average user. 99.99999% of Spark users don’t even know a CLI app exists let alone how to use it. Without local caching and unilateral exit actually implemented in the app and having hard dependency on operator cooperation to exit then it’s custodial. Listen I actually like Spark and think it makes reasonable tradeoffs in a world without covenants, but as it stands it’s a custodial product. Happy to revise this once we see an actual implementation of unilateral exit and more operators and LSPs, but it’s just the honest reality today.

I work in the MTB industry and am unaffected, like you using ai tools can be a big help as we’re a small team wearing many hats and ai certainly has streamlined business, legal and HR research. I do have a close friend in the Saas industry and he’s had to completely pivot creating a new service within ai or otherwise be completely replaced being a coder, hacker, ect. Just read the ai2027 piece you spoke about and agree that the level of uncertainty is creating a lot of fear. I’m personally largely a spectator, my background is largely anolog in the physical space, preferably in nature with aww inspire views, however I do my best to stay informed and it is fun to be able to hold a conversation with folks like you and my friend since nobody else seems to even have an idea of what is currently happening outside what’s on mainstream media. For the love of all that is holy, please read the actual BIP. Lightning would not be affected. So much of the outcry I've heard against the BIP is either not true or has nothing to do with the technicals (I.e. philosophical/ideological) Start with www.bip110.org for the high level FAQ. It took me 10 seconds to look this up. I could be wrong on this, but I haven't seen any technical debates happening (i.e. "the BIP says it won't affect lightning channels becaue of X but actually it will because of Y...")

Super Argument Dennis. Tom blendet Kernproblematik aufgrund von Indizien-DoS ab und kommt zu falschen Rückschlüssen. Ganz ohne technisches Verständnis kann man halt leider keine Rückschlüsse auf Validität der Indizien und Schutz vor Zentralisierung ziehen, sorry Tom.

Genau andersrum, Ver und Co waren die großen Player (Exchanges, Miner, ..) die ihre Geschäftsmodelle schützen wollten und via Blockgröße einfachste Lösung durchdrücken wollten (Zentralisierung). Mining Pools würden mit Bigblocks noch mehr zentralisiert sein weil schwerer Nodes zu betreiben. Pools ist ein Problem, Lösung Stratum v2, Ocean/Datum um Blocktemplates zu dezentralisieren. Ver/Bigblocks hätte nichts daran geändert bzw. verschlimmert. Blocksizewar als neutralere Quelle lesen.

I was already running Knots and Datum for my miners for true solo/lottery mining. After the last two weeks following the debate on Twitter and podcast I just can't see any good, consistent reason for maxing OP_RETURN size AND nuking configuration options. It's clear they want to homogenize all mempools which makes mining centralization even more of a problem. Need to get back to original vision of nodes being in control and nodes/miners being more coterminous.
