Thanks for all your work, guys. I don't always agree with you but appreciate you regardless. I'm trying to add to the free, private, decentralized apps space based on p2p protocols and design using the Pear stack. So far I have a family/group calendar, family/location sharing and screen time apps. Please check out what I've got so far at https://peerloomllc.com or check out @npub16u9hy2m8w… on NOSTR.

I was already running Knots and Datum for my miners for true solo/lottery mining. After the last two weeks following the debate on Twitter and podcast I just can't see any good, consistent reason for maxing OP_RETURN size AND nuking configuration options. It's clear they want to homogenize all mempools which makes mining centralization even more of a problem. Need to get back to original vision of nodes being in control and nodes/miners being more coterminous.

Unfortunately, I'm in one of the few states Salt Lending doesn't service yet (Alabama), but I am able to use LEDN. They have higher rates, but it's still a very cool unlock to live off Bitcoin without selling, assuming BTC CAGR is consistently higher than the rate. Just roll over the loan after 12 months and reclaim some of the BTC. Very nice

Bitcoin adjacent products are mainly there for institutions that can't hold Bitcoin directly or for tax "advantaged" 401ks/IRAs held by us wage-slaves. When I'm getting %6 match from my employer you better believe I'm putting all that towards Bitcoin ETFs or MSTR. So long as the fiat gains track with Bitcoin AND the system doesn't blow up, there's a good path to one day cash that out and convert into Bitcoin, then live off it by using BTC-backed loan products, inflating away the fiat debt so long as BTC CAGR outpaces the interest. Of course, all other take-home pay goes directly into BTC. These products have their niche, and I think that's what Saylor and Mallers are tapping into

For the love of all that is holy, please read the actual BIP. Lightning would not be affected. So much of the outcry I've heard against the BIP is either not true or has nothing to do with the technicals (I.e. philosophical/ideological) Start with www.bip110.org for the high level FAQ. It took me 10 seconds to look this up. I could be wrong on this, but I haven't seen any technical debates happening (i.e. "the BIP says it won't affect lightning channels becaue of X but actually it will because of Y...")

As much like the idea of Lava products I've seen some investigation posts from Cory Klippsten and Samson Mow showing from Lava's own terms how the risk is being put all on the borrower. Stuff about "the borrower agrees that these are business loans only" buried in the terms and their rates are so much lower compared to other larger, more experienced lenders that something seems off. Something seems off. Also suggest listening to Guy Swann's recent roundtable episode discussion on Core/Knots and BIP-444. The social layer to the whole debate is being lost, I think. The technical arguments are just a distraction, imo.

Agreed. I've felt bad vibes coming from Core camp since the very beginning of the debate before I really understood the issue. Glad we clearly agree on this 😁

Paul is arguing that Lightning doesn't work because it doesn't scale to 8 billion? Has anyone claimed it would? Does any monetary system we have scale to the whole world? Appeals to authority, admitting he hasn't used it in recent years, clearly has an axe to grind about a different solution (drive chains). Seeing more and more "OGs" who are disappointing. Slay your heroes, fam.

Love your takes on macro, but Mara is a bad actor in the space. They mine something like 99% of the non-financial transactions (i.e. spam) and contribute to the problem of mining and pool centralization. I'm guessing it's small chance that'll change for you, so I'm conflicted. Regardless, I appreciate your insights.

Knots is not maintained by "just one guy". This is a misunderstanding. Please have Bitcoin Mechanic/Grassfed Bitcoin on to get the other side on this. The real issue is mining pool centralization, which is what Stratum v2 was trying to solve, but now Datun has basically solved, and you run that along with Knots. Fix the mining pool issue and you the "spammers will be incentiized to go directly to miners" argument becomes moot.

Shinobi is like Bitcoin's version of Reddit atheists and lolbertarians doing a "well akshually". The fact that he admitted he can't steelman the opposition tells me everything I need to know. Doing that is histrionic moralphagging, "It's so absurd I can't even...they must be crazy!"

Been passively stacking with Fold+ for a couple years now, about 13mm sats. I spend over 10k/month to get ACH rewards of about 1% back on my mortgage and a few other bills. Recently got a Venmo CC to get greater % rewards on bills and groceries (1-3%) and then they auto buy BTC at statement period end. I am planning to go all in with the Fold CC once it's released, though.

Wealth preservation through limited supply, decentralization, game theory, etc are the innovation. Bitcoin doesn't need shiny new tech features. Protocol vs software. I don't think he gets it.

No actual discussion about the BIP technicals. Projection, fear-mongering, mind reading. Odell kind of did the same thing with Swan Bitcoin a couple years ago when he didn't have info that they hadn't announced and basically accused them of being bad actors and had to walk it back. If you disagree with the goal and assume bad motivations then of course it's going to seem like an attack. BIP-110 supporters can (and probably do) say that Core's actions + some statements by various devs + various VC connections = attack on Bitcoin. Everyone has their idea of what they want Bitcoin to be and everyone has something at stake. As a small miner who is all-in on Bitcoin for years now, and has been following this issue since early 2025, I support the vision of BIP110. Doesnt mean it's perfect, but I believe it's better than the direction we'd be heading without it.

"IBD speed has been improved! Why are people complaining?" Bruh, no one cares about one-time IBD performance with inscriptions, it's about the permanent storage requirements from the blockchain bloat. Hard tell when these guys are disingenuous or just that dense/ignorant of the opposition's steel manned position
