It's really cool cracking open an old journal and remembering the person who you once were compared to the person you are today. With some amount of effort you can envoke that former person but now with wisdom you've gained. Quality conversation guys.

I’ve heard priests say that encountering the spirits of loved ones after their recent deaths is a very common occurrence. They say it was common all through history and even continues today but people don’t really talk about it anymore. I know people personally who I totally trust who describe encounters, but I have not sensed it myself. So yeah, you’re just having a normal human experience as far as I know.

Drives me nuts every time I hear podcasters talking about how they can’t say things because of YouTube. I know y’all are trying to reach NPCs on YouTube, but is it possible to put out the podcast first and then make a censored version that goes on YouTube later? There should be no awake and aware people who still use YouTube primarily. /rant

Apple’s Steve Jobs and other “founders” (Gates, etc.) did something worse than no-compete clauses. They colluded to agree to not “poach” employees from each others companies. The concern with bitcoin backed loans is that, should the value of your collateral drop beyond a certain point (which bitcoin is famously known to do), the bank may liquidate the collateral at a price which is much, much lower than had you just sold it at the cycle top and paid the capital gains tax.

I happen to know quite a bit about protecting the grid from solar flares and I was closely monitoring the event in May. I hate to be that guy but your guest is missed a lot things concerning the electrical grid. After the Quebec blackout in 1989 grid operators have greatly improved their ability monitor and mitigate geomagnetic disturbances. Once a flare is detected, grid operators have like 6-10 hours to prepare for the plasma to hit us so they have time to disconnect / protect vulnetable equipment. If a really, really bad one hits us, power restoration will be on the order of days, not months or years, sorry!

Coincidentally, I also went down the meme stock rabbit hole recently, I watched the James Jani doc, I watched a.bunch of Marantz and Richard Newton on YT, etc. I was shocked to find that I came away thinking Marantz actually has a good point, I wouldn't dismiss him so easily. AMC, BBBY and GME are not the same and I think Ryan Cohen is genuinely trying to turn around GME, he got out of BBBY when he saw it was a lost cause. The story of private equity bankruptcies is truly fascinating. This whole GME saga transformed into a rich vs poor battle which is still ongoing. Will the common man ever see justice? Who knows. Do hedge funds break the rules and get away with it ? No doubt they do. Good discussion.

Mike Benz is an evil a$$hole, sorry Tom. He openly says lying, cheating, stealing, killing etc. foreigners is perfectly fine if it results in american corporations have a higher profit margins and higher stock valuations. When you tell strangers you're retired they will assume you have some sort of inherentance coming your way and don't need to work for money. Little do they know that you just don't see a need for collecting money!

I might have become the out of touch old guy in the room but I still remain wildly unenthusiastic about the world changing aspects of AI in the next few years. As far as I can see, AI amounts to clever google searches and unoriginal media creation on apps which mainly appeal to highschool kids (insta, tiktok, etc) Furthermore, if AI can make your job obsolete then I wager your job was largely unnecessary to begin with and you probably should have been fired years ago.
