I agree we need a good modern in-kernel filesystem. I'm also still frustrated at the bzf attitude of the kernel devs wrt zfs. If they'd embraced it as an external project with a special status, the fs story would have been so much better

Jumped ahead to listen to 626 and 627 whilst catching up. Throwing in some support !

Lads, I think you missed some boosts last episode. At least mine and m00ninite's show up in Fountain but seemed to have missed your bot. The headset sounds good to me! For the TUI challenge, I think sixel should be allowed, since it's something that real DEC terminals did. Otherwise I vote no for external graphics. Also, what about another bonus challenge to do social media from the TUI. toot for Mastodon is great, for example

I did appreciate the RedHat coverage, though it left me feeling down (their fault not yours) ... and apparently uninspired to boost!

I use KeePass with syncthing and it works great for my needs. Love the Gnome Commander pick, and it's a nice little bit of nostalgia remembering when Gnome initially shipped Midnight Commander as their file manager.

Hearing about the state of the engine sealing, here's some sats for an MQ-7 so Brent can get carbon monoxide monitoring going

Looking forward to the SCaLE and Planet Nix coverage! Here's some sats to help with the travel. If you see any of the nix/bsd people down there, I'd love to hear about it. I find that particular combination intriguing. Wechsel sounds insane, but then I've done exactly that in the past with a Perl script.

Congratulations on 20 years of podcasting, Chris! Thanks for the van tips. I'll look first at monitoring internal temp, and freshwater temp and levels.

Minor time-travel boost from episode 657. Thanks for putting in all the time and effort for the planet nix and scale coverage! Picking mtr in 2026 is hilarious, but it's still a great tool

I'm looking forward to hearing your reports from RedHat Summit. I've started the TUI challenge early because I'll be on holiday most of next week. I'm having a blast, and it reminds me of how much I enjoyed using Linux (and BSD) back in the day. My write-up which I'm updating as I go along is at tui.chef-li.eu

I love the episode 666 daemonic challenge plan. One idea for a challenge would be to run Linux binaries or even a Linux container. I think Brent in particular might enjoy NetBSD on some dumpster hardware. It can run on remarkably small machines!

I'm simultaneously sick to death of hearing about AI, and enjoying LUP's AI coverage. You all are on a very, very short list of exceptions, because you strike a good balance. Both in terms of the amount of coverage, but also in being neither cheerleaders nor thought-free haters. I'm pretty much aligned with Brent, and like he clearly is, I'm enjoying hearing Chris and Wes's AI adventures

I'm with Brent's brother for naming the van. How great would it be when it crossing the border for its name to change from something gratuitously rude, to confusingly French ? Allez Jean-Claude !

Fresh episode! This one is mostly my take on the Bitcoin Core drama/arbitrary data storage battle that really heated up this week.
