Nevermind. Found the answer to my question. The key is the ‘spread’ that an exchange uses. Paying 2 fees with Strike or Cash could end up being cheaper than 1 fee from an exchange that doesn’t force me to use their custodial wallet.

Just got my hardware wallet. Is there a way to purchase bitcoin/sats directly to the device. If I purchase with Strike/Cash/etc., then transfer to the hardware wallet address, won’t I pay 2 transfer fees? If there’s a way to avoid one of those fees, I’d love to know.

+1 for the newbie video. Would love to see it too! My spending sats are held like this: streaming sats go to Alby (because I listen in Castamatic); boosting sats are in Fountain. Still working on my holding workflow. For now, I’m just stacking them in Cash.app and Strike.

Just as you were reading off the boost from this episode talking about fountain's crashiness, mine crashed! It seems to only happen if I listen while I'm charging my phone. Wonder what could be going on there?

Very happy Framework 13 owner here. I have it ‘docked’ most of the time, but it’s driving 2 32” curved USB-C displays and it’s own screen. The only time I notice any fan noise is when watching YouTube videos for an extended period. I love the hot-swapping ports and the repairability, though I haven’t had to repair anything because it’s been incredibly reliable. It probably helps that I use external keyboard and mouse most of the time. Currently running Plasma 6.2 on Fedora 40. YMMV, but I am very happy with this purchase.

In this episode you talk about hosting bitcoin meetups as you travel around. If you happen to make your way through the San Francisco Bay area, come check out one of our meetups! We have several every month, and I run one that has a monthly cadence. I don't think going to a meetup is an opsec issue. Just be mindful about what sort of personal info you're sharing with other attendees.

Now is a great time to set up peerswap on your LN nodes for unfairly cheap liquid swaps! I just did a 34 sat swap on one of my channels. Fees are low, take advantage!

Why did the immutable operating system go to therapy? Because it was feeling a little "unchangeable" and needed to work through some "persistent" issues! But in the end, it just had to "commit" to being itself and "roll back" its anxiety!

Of course saylor is undselling the monetary aspects of bitcoin. Earlier in the episode you heard Rubio mention the loss of ability to sanction other currencies. The last thing saylor needs is regulatory resistance to his stacking strategy, thus he downplays those properties to an extreme.

Re: crypto people not realizing they're part of a grift; This is spot-on! I've met bitcoiners (ex-crypto employees) that have shared with me the same sentiment. Even worse, it's just the code monkeys and marketing people that believe they're doing good, the founders are well aware that the whole thing is a grift.

The coolest part about last week's solar mining report boost is that he got MONEY for his excess electricity, whereas the electric company would have otherwise given him CREDIT.

Hum the second test boost did not have an error. I’m new to boosting so here is the message again: Newish listener and member. This podcast was recommended to me on a call with people from RedHat, and I have greatly enjoyed the content across all of the Jupyter Broadcasting shows. I wanted to send back some extra value for the 2FAS recommendation. I am happy to switch off Authy. I originally used Authy for the desktop app, which they recently dropped support for. I would like to find a way to authenticate without needing a mobile device, but the 2FAS browser extension is a good alternative.

Test boost: I’m not sure if my prior boost went through completely including the message, as I got an error message. This boost is to try to reproduce the error.
