10k Reporting back regarding CoinJar. So far so good. Have updated my Jupiter party subscription to use the attached Mastercard, now paying for my membership with sats! Few retail purchases this week too and it’s working great. Hurts to spend those sats though! Also flipping back to core with config tweak given the knots BIP444 shenanigans. 20k Very happy Framework 13 owner here. I have it ‘docked’ most of the time, but it’s driving 2 32” curved USB-C displays and it’s own screen. The only time I notice any fan noise is when watching YouTube videos for an extended period. I love the hot-swapping ports and the repairability, though I haven’t had to repair anything because it’s been incredibly reliable. It probably helps that I use external keyboard and mouse most of the time. Currently running Plasma 6.2 on Fedora 40. YMMV, but I am very happy with this purchase.

20k Imho we have let the crypto skeptics get inside our heads. I think as a community we should lean into the fact that boost are powered by bitcoin. As a small business, I’m grateful to have support in a hard asset. It’s helped me fight inflation and keep my head above water. Bitcoin is an intelligence test, and I don’t need everyone in the world listening. I want a great audience, not the biggest audience possible. These are things we should lean into as a podcasting community trying to offer an alternative to mainstream crap. Go Podcasting!

Meshtasic devices rocked up on Friday, but I didn’t make it to the post office in time, have to wait until Monday now! *sigh*

10k Nevermind. Found the answer to my question. The key is the ‘spread’ that an exchange uses. Paying 2 fees with Strike or Cash could end up being cheaper than 1 fee from an exchange that doesn’t force me to use their custodial wallet.

10k Just got my hardware wallet. Is there a way to purchase bitcoin/sats directly to the device. If I purchase with Strike/Cash/etc., then transfer to the hardware wallet address, won’t I pay 2 transfer fees? If there’s a way to avoid one of those fees, I’d love to know.

2k My vote is to keep including the FUD busting. Equally, call out organizations in the Bitcoin ecosystem that are doing the wrong thing. They don’t help the cause and in some cases they just need guidance rather than them deliberately doing wrong.

5.4k Boosting from Fountain with my Alby hub connected via Nostur connect! Re tax implications for spends on the CoinJar Mastercard setup in Australia, they report to the tax office directly or you can easily download transaction reports for your accountant. Also got my node setup dialled in now with clearnet and Tor working smooth and BTC Explorer to monitor it. I’ll get my act together and put the compose file on GitHub and report back. It gets easier every day: stack sats.

5k Hey Chris, I’ve been looking for a product in Australia similar to Fold you always mention. I settled on CoinJar. They have a prepaid Mastercard that you can instantly setup and use. It uses onchain BTC to fund purchases directly. Seems like a good product and trusted company since 2013. Of course it’s custodial, but unavoidable I beleive. I’d been keen for other Aussies to boost in and let us know what they use. Alby hub is still my main savings account. Skip the coffee: stack sats!

Hey you mob. I know I’m a few weeks late, but my first Linux was LOAF. Running on a Pentium 90 with a dialup modem as my firewall/gateway! Challenge you to setup LOAF now - put that USB floppy drive to use. Not in IT myself, career went another way, but still love playing with Linux. BTW, thanks for getting me hooked on NixOS!
